Overall, I will definitely pack Envy for future conventions. However, at one point, I adjusted my wig, which made the combs tug on my scalp the rest of the con. The one I used has little combs to clip into your hair, a great feature for keeping it secure. I did get a little chilly, but we walked around pretty much the whole time, which helped. I didn’t get snagged on anything and no one stepped on a part of my costume. It’s light (my Cersei cosplay kills my shoulders after a few hours because it’s so heavy) and easy to move around in. So far, Envy has been the best cosplay to wear in a con setting. The woman who worked with me has tattoos and gave me advice for how to apply it most effectively. I purchased Kat Von D’s Lock-It foundation, which I’ve heard good things about when it comes to covering ink. I originally planned to cover my tattoos for C2E2, but the morning of, I ended up changing course. I think more importantly, I need to plan time to execute mockups into my cosplay schedules. Looks like a lot my “what I’d change” posts end up being about doing mockups. This, of course wasted material (i.e., money). The patterns worked out in the end, but I did make three versions of the shirt and cut away a lot of unnecessary fabric in the shorts. I opted not to for two reasons: First, I wanted to know how the stretch fabric would behave, and a muslin mockup wouldn’t help. I did a mix of creating my own patterns and using pattern pieces I already had.

Here’s a look back at the whole process of making and wearing the costume, the things I’d do again, and the steps I’d change if I did it over: I wore the final outfit at C2E2 2018, which took place in Chicago in April. With only a few elements and a forgiving fabric, this project was a lot of fun. Envy was the perfect character to cosplay in a short amount of time.
